Long bio
Juan Pineda is a computer scientist from EAFIT with an MSc in cybersecurity and privacy from UOC. He is a Tech Lead at Pyxis, where he designs AWS architectures for financial sector clients and leads the company’s technical academy.
Before the cloud there was metal: for eight years, from its creation, he ran Apolo, EAFIT’s scientific computing center, with high performance clusters serving researchers.
These past years he has been bringing security and networking to a trade that needs them: the audiovisual industry. He gives talks and workshops at conferences across Latin America — always with live demos and open materials — about what happens when video runs over IP and nobody thought about the network. Off the clock he is a ham radio operator: SDR, CW and embedded systems.
Stage introduction
“Our next speaker designs secure cloud architectures and ran a scientific computing center for eight years. Today he brings that security to the AV industry, live demos included. From Medellín: Juan Pineda.”
